Semantelli Corporation has released BIGHEALTHr, a healthcare focused big data collection platform to help life sciences and healthcare companies intelligently collect big data for analytical, commercial and compliance purposes.

The data collection platform built with Apache Hadoop and other standard big data stacks, BIGHEALTHr comes with built-in ontologies to enhance analytics, multi-channel marketing, micro targeting, adverse events collection, off-label and signal detection.

“We think we are going to see some real applications for big data in the next two years in life sciences. Although there are lots of great platforms that can crunch big data, there is a real need for a standard platform that can collect big data intelligently and most importantly, compliantly,” said Siva Nadarajah, CEO of Semantelli.

According to Semantelli, BIGHEALTHr can be configured to collect big data from social media, videos, scholar publications, clinical trials, FDA, Wikipedia, mobile apps, product reviews, news media and other online and offline sources. BIGHEALTHr also comes with widgets that companies can use to collect big data via social media based surveys, product reviews and adverse events reports.

“We have seen some innovative uses of our big data widgets by some of our over the counter (OTC) clients in 2012. We think 2013 will be the year for Pharma. Based on our experience with our OTC clients, we see tremendous opportunities in Pharma,” Nadarajah said.

Semantelli also announced newer versions of their social listening tools, BrandAlert-Rx and HCP-4D (formerly KOL-4D), built on BIGHEALTHr platform to help support big data analytics. Industry reports suggest healthcare analytics market may grow to over $10 billion by 2017, mostly driven by big data.

Semantelli is the leader in social listening and big data collection solutions for the global life sciences and healthcare industry.
