Seminar on eye problems in diabetics, AIDS patients

Management of eye complications on diabetics and AIDS patients would be among the major topics to be discussed during a two-day conference on the retina, to be held in Coimbatore from January 25, 2003.

The mode of presentation of diabetic eye diseases and the methods of early detection and treatment, new techniques in handling complicated cases would be discussed at 'Eyetrendz Retina-2003', conference chairman, Dr S K Sundaramurthy said.

Retina problems and loss of vision being the most important eye complications in AIDS patients, eminent faculty from India and abroad would discuss various modalities of their management, he said.

Dr. Sundaramurthy said the conference would include instruction courses, live surgeries, interesting case presentations and didactics covering every aspect of the retina.
The conference, in which about 500 delegates are expected to participate, would also discuss road traffic accidents involving loss of eyesight and age-related macular degeneration, which was on the rise in the country, he said.
