Around 200 delegates from all over the country would participate in the national seminar on 'Mental Health Legislation', organised by Forensic psychiatry section of Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS), at Kochi on May 25.
The seminar would discuss and evolve a consensus on the changes to be made in the 'Mental Health Act 1987', Kuruvilla Thomas, Convenor of IPS Forensic Psychiatry Section said.
There was a need for frequent changes in the Mental Health laws to incorporate the changing concepts and advances in the area, he said. The theme of the seminar is 'Mental Health Act 1987 - Boon or Bane for the Mentally ill'.
