Semler Research Centre Pvt Ltd, a leading contract research organisation & subsidiary of Semler Group, has appointed Dr Krathish Bopanna as president and executive director.

In this role, Dr Bopanna is responsible for the overall performance of SRC in India and US across its diverse business segments. He will primarily be based in Bangalore and but would also work for the Corporate HQ in North Hollywood, CA, USA.

Prior to joining SRC, Dr Bopanna was with Manipal Acunova as the senior vice president, Clinical Development. With over 15 year’s pharmaceutical experience, Dr Bopanna has served leading positions in companies like Astra Zeneca and Tata Consulting Services.

He is a qualified pharmacologist with a doctorate degree in psychopharmacology from National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore and Doctor of Science in biochemical pharmacology from International University of Washington, Washington DC, USA. Currently, he is the general secretary of Indian Society of Clinical Research and Advisory Council member of DIA.

The American Biological Institute, Inc, North Carolina, USA has nominated Dr Bopanna as the “Man of the Year 2002”. He was also chosen as one of the “2000 Outstanding Scientists of the 21st Century” in October 2002, by the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge. He has contributed to over 35 publications, speaker in more than 100 presentations and has authored four chapters in academic text books as well. Currently, he is the editor in two journals and a referee in four journals. Further, he has mentored over 25 students in the Postgraduate program and was a PhD examiner for four universities.

Dr Bopanna will be representing SRC at BIO International Convention 2010 in Chicago and the Indo US Bio Pharma and Healthcare Summit 2010 in Boston, said Ravi Achar, managing direct & CFO of SRC.
