Sigma-Aldrich expands distribution pacts with Genewiz & Oxford Genetics to speed ordering process for DNA services

Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, a leading life science and technology company, announced it has expanded its distribution agreements with Genewiz and Oxford Genetics to provide customers with an easy-to-use, web-based ordering system that will provide instant pricing for most synthetic DNA up to 5kb.

Scientists can now order synthesized genes from Genewiz through Sigma-Aldrich's eCommerce platform, with the option to have them delivered in a SnapFast vector from Oxford Genetics. This will allow end-users to quickly order an expression-ready gene without waiting for a quote.

"Sigma-Aldrich saw a customer need for a standardized ordering method that provided quick access to DNA services. Currently, when researchers purchase synthetic biology or gene synthesis services, they often rely on a quoting system that delays orders by 24 hours or more," said Josef Zihlmann, vice president of product management and R&D for Sigma-Aldrich.

"By combining Genewiz's synthesized gene services and Oxford Genetics' SnapFast technology with our best-in-class eCommerce services, researchers now have a time and cost-saving solution to acquire quality, expression-ready DNA."
