Sloning BioTechnology GmbH has been awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certification, an internationally recognized quality management system standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), for the entirety of its business processes.

External auditors with quality management systems registrar TÜV Austria visited Sloning headquarters in October 2008 conducting a comprehensive audit. Auditors examined all of Sloning's business processes and quality systems, including development processes, materials documentation practices, and measurement systems. Sloning successfully completed the audit, and will receive the official ISO-certificate in November 2008.

The ISO certification process ensures ongoing compliance because, once certified, companies are externally audited on a regular basis. "It is not the certificate hanging on the wall we were after," comments CEO Dr Heinz Schwer, "Instead, going through the ISO registration process supports our pursuit of continuous improvement. Working in the field of synthetic biology, we are aware of the tremendous impact our service performance has on our customers' research outcome."

"Sloning is intently focused on providing the best, highest quality products and solutions for our customers and their businesses - and on continuously working to improve how we deliver on that promise," says Dr Gudrun Horn, director of Quality at Sloning. "Achieving ISO certification demonstrates the entire Sloning team's remarkable commitment to quality. We were committed to service quality before the certificate and we will keep on striving thereafter."

ISO 9001:2000 applies to industries involved in the design and development, manufacturing, installation, and servicing of products.

Sloning BioTechnology specializes in the production of highly diverse and precisely engineered gene libraries.
