Square Pharma offers contract manufacturing for Indian bulk companies

Square Pharmaceuticals Limited, the leading drug manufacturer of Bangladesh, plans to take up manufacturing contracts with Indian bulk drug and formulation companies and export of products from Bangladesh.

Square Pharma, established in 1958, has been in the number one position in the Bangladesh pharmaceutical industry since 1985 with a 14 to 15 per cent market share in the local market. It is the only US FDA/ UK MCA compliant drug manufacturing facility in Bangladesh. The company has two formulations facilities located at Pabna and Dhaka and one bulk drug manufacturing unit at Pabna.

While speaking to Pharmabiz.com, Md. Mizanur Rahman, Manager, International Sales, Square Pharmaceuticals, said that the company offers not only contract manufacturing facility to domestic and overseas companies but also looks for association with global research based pharmaceutical companies for marketing and manufacturing their products.

Mizanur informed that the company has received some enquires from India and other countries. Discussions are in advanced stage with a few Indian companies. "In the case of research association with foreign companies, we look for companies which have good technology in the bulk drug manufacturing especially in the new generation antibiotics," he added.

Square has a sales turnover of Tk 4 billion in the last financial year mainly from the domestic market. SPL is now strengthening its export operations by supplying quality pharmaceuticals at lower price.
