The 26 year old Sri Satya Sai General Hospital has recently upgraded its facilities with the acquisition of a German ENT operating microscope, a German YAG laser and a Swedish ophthalmoscope to its existing equipments.

A new wing of 32 beds has also been commissioned here. The hospital which is currently a 225-bed facility is located in Whitefield in the outskirts of Bangalore offers all specialties of medical care except neurology and cardiology.

The other facility -Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, a 333-bed hospital also located close to the General hospital is a dedicated super speciality medical centre for only cardiology and neurology. The hospital has treated over 2.3 million cases through these years, C Srinivasan, member of the Satya Sai General Hospital told Pharmabiz.com.

"We have a panel of competent specialists and surgeons. The combination of talent and technology with the spirit of service makes it a one-of-its-kind hospital," he informed. The hospital is a boon to the weaker sections who do not have access to good healthcare centres come for treatment here which is absolutely free. Last year alone it has treated 1.5 lakh patients with an average of at least 850 outpatients a day apart from 1,700 surgeries conducted.

People from 2,100 villages all over Karnataka has come to the hospital for treatment, informed Srinivasan. With the aim to strengthen the primary health care systems in the country the Satya Sai Trust runs several charitable primary, secondary and tertiary hospitals that have saved millions of lives, he added.
