In the Annual General Meeting of Indian Drugs Manufacturers' Association (IDMA) held on Saturday, December 18, 2004, Suresh G Kare, chairman & managing director of Indoco Remedies Ltd. has taken over as the president of IDMA.

Earlier in the day, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, chairperson of Biocon Ltd presided over the function as the chief guest. Besides the president, the governing body elected vice presidents for the 4 regions as members of the committee.

The vice presidents for the 4 regions, on the new committee are Premchand C. Godha, managing director of IPCA Laboratories Ltd for Western region; Deepnath Roy Chowdhury, managing director of Strassenburg Pharmaceuticals Ltd. for Eastern Region; N R Munjal, managing director of Ind-Swift Laboratories Ltd for Northern region and S V Veerramani, chairman & managing director of Fourrts (India) Laboratories Pvt Ltd for Southern Region.
