RCC Laboratories India Private Limited, a newly established subsidiary of RCC Ltd, one of the Europe's leading Contract Research Organization (CRO) with its headquarters in Switzerland, is to provide research and development (R&D) services for the pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology industry. It has commenced its operations in Hyderabad, recently.

RCC Laboratories India has set up a Toxicology laboratory at Hyderabad. The company plans to be Indian and Swiss GLP-certified after a few months. The services will include toxicological, environmental and chemical testing as well as consulting required to register products worldwide. The laboratory located in Hyderabad will be of international standards and fully GLP compliant.

RCC's first laboratory in India, being based in Hyderabad will house a group of toxicologists, scientists and technical personnel performing acute, sub-chronic and chronic toxicological studies. Contract animal breeding will also be carried out at Hyderabad.

Official sources told Pharmabiz that RCC has so far invested about $9 million in India and will pump further funds as the company expands its operations in the country. The company has set up a marketing office at Ahmedabad.
