The Hyderabad-based Symphony Pharma Training, a training school for young scientists, especially for those from rural areas, has ventured into research activity with the registration of a new company, Symphony Pharma Life Sciences Pvt Ltd.

According to sources, the institute, which currently runs in a rented facility, is planning to set up a separate facility in the near future. The facility is likely to come up in the ICICI Knowledge Park, Genome Valley. Symphony is in discussions with the ICICI Knowledge Park to set up the facility in the park and is expected to draw an agreement in the next couple of months. It has already chalked out plans to invest US$10 million in the next 10 years, including US$5 million in the next two year's time.

Speaking to Pharmabiz, G Om Reddy, president and CEO, Symphony Pharma Training, said, "Yes, we have ventured into research and it is with a view to support the institute, as there won't be much returns from the institute. We came up with such an institute to train the young scientists, especially those from rural areas because there is much gap between the rural and urban man power and we like to enable the rural population to meet the industry requirements".

The company offers complete range of chemical science services, including medicinal chemistry, process chemistry and analytical chemistry, in support of drug discovery & development and generic companies According to the company, its mission is to achieve global recognition as an excellent service provider and research partner. It also aims to accelerate the drug discovery and development programme of small, medium and large pharmaceutical and biopharma companies across the globe.
