The Tamil Nadu University for Veterinary and Animal Sciences (TANUVAS) has introduced a new vaccine for controlling IBD and Ranikhet diseases in broilers and layers. The vaccine has been introduced on a trial basis at a poultry farm in Erode, according to Dr. R. Khadrivelu, Vice Chancellor of the varsity.
The vaccine is of the recombinant type and has been introduced for the first time in the country. It''s multi-disease controlling nature is an advantage over the existing vaccines as it acts against both the diseases at one go. Currently, poultry farmers have to administer vaccines separately for IBD and Ranikhet diseases.
