TANUVAS to start advanced courses in biotechnology and bioinformatics

The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) is starting two new advanced postgraduate one year courses in biotechnology and bioinformatics segments.

The M.Phil in Biotechnology and Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics would be suitable for students to help employment in firms related to biotechnology, bioinformatics, genetics, pharmaceuticals and diary industries, said a TNAUVAS release. Students with background qualification in any of these industry segments could apply for the courses, conducted at the Madras Veterinary College (MVC). Only six seats are available in each course. Selection will be based on an entrance examination held on 20th June, 2004 at the MVC. The courses would follow semester system with project works and training in industries, said the release.

Meanwhile, the Kodaikanal based Mother Theresa University has notified for admission to its two year M.Sc. in Biotechnology with specialization in medicine plant technology and an undergraduate programme in B.Sc. Plant Biotechnology, according to another communication.
