Task Force constituted to verify implementation of medical waste rules in Karnataka
Karnataka State Pollution Control Board has constituted a Task Force for ensuring effective implementation of Bio-medical Waste (Management and Handling) Rules in the State. The task force will be working in six corporation areas in Bangalore and Mysore, Hubli-Dharwad, Gulbarga, and Mangalore.
According to press release from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, the task force will be headed by the president of Indian Medical Association (IMA) of the district concerned and will comprise the district health officer, district surgeon, deputy director Karnataka Pollution Control Board ad representatives of the deputy commissioner, the chief executive officer and the environmental officer of the Board.
The Board will inspect the health care establishments including veterinary institutions, blood banks and will verify the compliance made by the hospitals to the conditions of authorisation.
