A special task force set up by the government of India for the promotion of pharmaceutical exports from the country may submit its recommendation to the Prime Minister within two months.
The task force, constituted two months ago by the Union Ministry of Commerce with initiative of the Prime Minister, may submit its recommendations on exports issues including the challenges in herbals and ayurvedics exports, clinical trials outsourcing and exports of counterfeit drugs, according to official sources.
The recommendation will include providing support to small-scale players for providing quality products to the international market. The task force, which had held two meetings within the two months, have discussed various options to better the position of small-scale industry in export business. The group of experts and officials will conduct minimum two to three meetings within next two months to finalise the recommendation.
"The recommendation is expected to come up with solutions on major issues faced by the SSIs in overseas market and the need of quality assurance in herbals and ayurvedics exports. The Pharmexcil has a major role in the task force and we have submitted our views and suggestions to them through a representation," a spokesperson from Pharmaceutical Exports Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) told Pharmabiz.
The task force, under the chairmanship of Rajiv Khare, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, includes representatives from Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Ministry of External Affairs, Department of Ayush, Department of Biotechnology, Pharmexcil etc.
