Tax benefits inflate net of Shasun Pharma to Rs.10 cr in Q2

Shasun Pharmaceuticals, formerly known as Shasun Chemicals and Drugs Ltd, has posted consolidated net profit of Rs.10.16 crore during the second quarter ended September 2011 as against Rs.0.21 crore in the corresponding period of last year. The company has shown Rs.25.35 crore as tax benefits during the period under review as against nil in the last period, which pushed its net profit to present level. However, its EBDITA declined sharply to Rs.1.82 crore from Rs.15.40 crore in the last period. The company's consolidated net sales increased by 15 per cent to Rs.244.50 crore from Rs.212.70 crore.


For the first half ended September 2011, Shasun's net sales increased by 8.8 per cent to Rs.440.99 crore from Rs.405.17 crore and it generated net profit of Rs.16.99 crore, due to tax benefits, as compared to a net loss of Rs.2.14 crore in the same period of last year. Its EBDITA in the first half declined by 9.8 per cent to Rs.25.05 crore from Rs.27.78 crore in the similar period of last year.
