The three day 'Medical Informatics and Telemedicine Conference 2002', an event first of its kind that will witness medical professionals, administrators and paramedical staff sharing common platform with IT professionals, will be held at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMC&RI) from August 23- 25, 2002. In an attempt to evolve parameters for e-medicine, the conference will feature presentations from International experts on technology, medicine and medical informatics.
Dr. Sunil Shroff, Chairman, Medical Computer Society of India, maintained that the conference would bring together professionals wanting to take India forward in the field of telemedicine.
"E- medicine can provide the most economical solutions for the health sector. With the Prime Minister recently inaugurating SRMC&RI's telemedicine facility with Port Blair, the Indian government has become aware of the importance of the emerging sector," Dr. Shroff added.
The conference will examine possibilities of establishing digital platforms for hospital systems and creating easily accessible medical data besides e-conferencing of surgeries. An exhibition on the latest medical innovations, telemedicines, medical informatics and technological developments in the area will also be held along with the conference.
