Teva receives tentative approval for generic Cozaar tablets

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. announced that the US Food and Drug Administration has granted tentative approval for the company's Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) to market its generic version of Merck's antihypertensive agent Cozaar (Losartan Potassium) tablets, 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg.

Final approval of this ANDA is expected in April 2010 when patent protection for the brand product expires.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., headquartered in Israel, is among the top 20 pharmaceutical companies in the world and is the leading generic pharmaceutical company.
