Texas Instruments India will host the 11th annual TIDC (Texas Instruments Developer Conference) 2008 between November 5 and 6, 2008 in Bangalore. The pre-TIDC hands-on tutorials will also be held in Bangalore on November 3 and 4, 2008.

The theme of the event is 'Use of semiconductor chips to develop medical technologies'. The two-day conference is expected to attract over 700 delegates comprising R&D staff, academia, senior and middle-level managers.

"Analog is seeing a new emergence with the world going increasingly digital. With its wide range of analog and embedded processing solutions, Texas Instruments is all set to enable innovative solutions in electronic design and manufacture, particularly in medical technologies," said Dr Bobby Mitra, managing director, Texas Instruments India.

"TIDC is a forum for our partners and customers to exchange ideas, learn about future technologies and collaborate to develop innovative designs that would benefit mankind," he added.

This year, TIDC will focus on areas of low-power design/management, security & surveillance, open source systems and the potential of telemedicine and affordable healthcare via comprehensive and ground-breaking medical technology from Texas Instruments.

TIDC 2008 will also showcase technology that can help bring down the cost of high definition video in medical imaging.

Some of the technologies that would be featured in the conference as part of the keynote include: the bionic eye. After the Bionic Arm, TI is enabling technology to offer vision to thousands of blind people. A 'bionic eye' may one day fight diseases like Retinitis pigmentosa and macular degeneration. Together, these diseases afflict millions of people; both occur gradually and can result in total blindness. The bionic eye can help such affected people see again.

The conference is designed to address strategic business initiatives and will include deep dive technical sessions for the semiconductor environment. There will also be technical sessions on topics such as, 'The impact of DSP on Medical Devices/ Tele-medicine' amongst others. A specialized session called 'Ask the Experts', will feature highly specialized TI executives answering technical queries from delegates seeking a deeper understanding of the technologies showcased at TIDC India.

Over 30 technical exhibits and demos of TI technologies and applications will allow delegates to view the different offerings on TI technology. TI's design and business partners will showcase their innovations using TI's silicon-based IP, products and services.
