The 3-day 23rd Annual Conference of Association of Gynaecologic Oncologists of India begins in Hyderabad

The three day 23rd Annual Conference of Association of Gyanecologic Oncologists of India, which begins today in Hyderabad till 29th November  2015, and inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr B Narsaiah, MP, Bhongir constituency and an eminent Laparoscopic and Bariatric surgeon, also a pioneer in laparoscopic procedures in this part of the country.

General, AGOI; Dr Abraham Peedicayil, President Elect 2016, AGOI; Prof. Walter Gottlieb, Professor of Ob-Gyn & Oncology, McGill University; Dr Ranjit Manchanda, Consultant Gynecological Oncologist, Bartshealth NHS Trust, London; Dr Saketh Guntupalli, Fellowship Programme Director- Gynaecologic Oncology, University of Colorado Cancer Centre & Prof. Shashi Kant Lele, Clinical Chief of Gynaecologic Oncology Clinical Chair, State University of New York; briefed media about the details of AGOICON 2015, eminent faculty and the topics and workshops being organised.

The incidence of cervical cancers are higher in India due to socioeconomic reasons, lack of awareness and lack of screening programs, implementation of population based screening programme is difficult with our population, says Dr. R. Rajagopalan.


Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgeries and newer treatment modalities in chemotherapy like HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy), Sentinel Lymph Node detection in gynecologic cancers, Immunohistochemistry techniques in gynec cancers, will be some of the latest topics and techniques being discussed in the conference, says Dr. T. Subramanyeshwar Rao.

This scientific extravaganza spread over 3 days has workshops on Oncopathology, live operative Laparoscopic and Robotic procedures. The theme of the conference is the Era of Cutting Edge Technology in Gynecologic Oncology. More than 400 delegates are participating in the workshop. There are 10 reputed International and 100 eminent national faculty who are part of the scientific deliberations.

The workshop is being jointly hosted by the BIACH&RI and Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad.
