Three day international conference on “Confluence - Eye and Beyond" begins in Hyderabad

Centre for Sight, India's leading super-specialty eye care provider, and it's not-for-profit  educational initiative CFS Education are organizing an international conference on oculoplasty, aesthetics, ocular oncology, ophthalmic pathology and neuro-ophthalmology, aptly called "Confluence - Eye and Beyond" .  This three day conference began in Hyderabad at Hotel Taj Krishna and will conclude on Sunday, December 15, 2013.

Disclsoing this addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the meet, Dr. Mahipal Singh Sachdev, chairman and medical director of Centre for Sight said, the Confluence is a superspeciality ophthalmology meet, featuring 15 international and 70 national faculty, which will bring together over 500 doctors from across India, Asia, Middle-East and Africa".

The truly the masters and opinion leaders in their respective focus areas who are bringing to table the latest trends and new paradigms in each subspecialty are five orators - Prof Jonathan Dutton, USA will give Centre for Sight International Oration; Prof Cynthia Boxrud, USA on Facial Aesthetics Oration, Prof David Abramson, USA on National Retinoblastoma Foundation Oration, Prof Ralph Eagle, USA on Ophthalmic Pathology Oration and Prof Peter Savino, USA on Neuro-ophthalmology Oration.These five experts represent the very best in the World, and have been fellowship trainers and mentors to the CFS faculty.

"These are extremely important and unique subspecialties in Ophthalmology that help provide care for patients with congenital or acquired deformities of the eyelid, tear drainage system, orbit and socket (oculoplasty), integral approach to the eye and facial aesthetics combining the microsurgical precision of ophthalmology with the concepts of aesthetics facial surgery – a true blend of science and art in perfect proportion to provide for the miracle of an ageless face (aesthetics), tumours of the eye with optimized life, eye and vision salvage (ocular oncology), histopathology, immunohistochemistry and molecular diagnosis of eye tissues (ophthalmic pathology) and neurological disorders of the eye and its relation to the brain (neuro-ophthalmology), Dr Snatosh Honavar, of CFS Hyderabad said.  .

"In addition to faculty lectures, young trainees in these subspecialties have been given an opportunity to participate by presenting their original research papers" said Dr Kaustubh Mulay, who heads the National Reporting Centre for Ophthalmic Pathology. "Scientific deliberations at Confluence will help bring about a much-needed change and rethinking of our approach to these so-called non-mainstream yet life, vision and eye-saving subspecialties in ophthalmology" said renowned neuro-ophthalmologist Dr Rashmin Gandhi.

Centre for Sight also launched Centre of Excellence in oculoplasty, aesthetics, ocular oncology and ophthalmic pathology. This Hyderabad centre is conceived as a Centre of Excellence in Ophthalmic and Facial Plastic Surgery, Facial Aesthetics Ocular Oncology and Ophthalmic Pathology.
