The three day strike by the medical representatives under the auspices of the Tamil Nadu Medical and Sales Representatives Association (TNMSRA) ended with the medical representatives pressing their demands which include an inquiry by the Centre into alleged unfair and corrupt trade practices.
Over a lakh medical and sales representatives, representing various pharmaceutical firms, are on a nationwide relay strike from May 8 which will continue till June 25.
The other demands of the association included stringent measures to stop sale of spurious medicines, making medicines available at affordable prices, minimum wage, bonus and PF to unorganised sector workers, accepting trade union rights for field workers and retaining the Indian Patent Act, 1970, in its present form.
