TN DCA to hold workshop on pharma trade & industry for consumers

The Drug Control Administration (DCA) of Tamil Nadu is planning to conduct a workshop on the trends in pharma trade and industry for the consumers and related organizations to spread awareness on the drug related challenges faced by consumers in the state.

The workshop on Recent Trends in Pharma Trade and Industry, to be conducted on September 12, will discuss various problems faced by the consumers in retail medicine shops and to make them aware of the procedures in pharma trade and industry in the state, enabling them to act against the malpractices hereafter, according to the officials. The workshop is focusing to provide basic details of drug related issues tot the consumer organizations.

The administration will advice the consumers to procure proper bill from the retail shops and to face other issues faced by the consumers at present. "The best way to check spurious drugs and to ensure better service to the consumers is to make billing system mandatory in the state. The DCA has already asked the traders to maintain proper billing system in every stage, particularly in the retail shops, and the workshop will make the consumers also vigilant on drug related issues," N Selvaraju, Drugs Controller (In Charge) told pharmabiz.

The workshop, to be inaugurated by the V K Subburaj, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, will discuss issues like relevance of qualigy assurance in revised Schedule M to Drugs and Cosmetics Act, GMP on Blood Banks and GMP on Blood Products and Legal aspects related to Drugs and Cosmetics Act and other related Acts.
