TN Medical College & BYL Nair Hospital bag IADVL-GSK national quiz honours

The team of Dr Rickson Pereira and Dr Swapna Khatu from TN Medical College and BYL Nair Hospital, Mumbai won the prestigious IADVL-GSK National Quiz Programme for Postgraduates (IGNQPP). The competition was held at the 37th Dermacon held in Bangalore recently.

Dr. Shyam Verma, Quiz Master - IADVL-GSK National Quiz Programme and Dr. Hemangi Jerjani, President Elect, IADVL are also seen.

The IGNQPP is a competition and an opportunity for post graduate students of Dermatology to update their clinical knowledge in the presence of the who's who of Dermatology in India. Four teams from across the country were selected for this National level quiz programme following tough competition being held at the State and Zonal levels.

Dr Rickson Pereira from TN Medical College and Dr Swapna Khatu from BYL Nair Hospital, Mumbai bagged the top honours.

To contribute to the science of dermatology, Indian Association of Dermatologists Venereologists & Leprologists (IADVL) - one of the largest dermatologic associations in the world has partnered with GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Limited for the IGNQPP. IADVL holds an annual conference - Dermacon - for its members and the quiz competition is one of the star attractions at Dermacon.

According to Dr Vinod K Sharma, president, IADVL "In today's information age, a medical practitioner needs to be updated on the latest advancement in the field of specialization. To inculcate the urge for constant learning amongst the younger generation, Dermatologists started the quiz competition in 2005. The participation in the quiz competition has been increasing every year. It provides an opportunity to be constantly keep abreast of the best and latest medical treatment which can be eventually provided to the patients."

IGQNPP was started in 2005 to enable competitive learning for third year post graduate students of Dermatology, which can be put into practice and contribute to the science of Dermatological sciences. The competition provides a National platform to the students- 'Young Aspirants' to excel in academics and get recognition as well.
