The State Working Committee of Tamilnadu Medical and Sales Representatives Association (TNMSRA) which met at Chennai on 3rd December 2006, has unanimously decided to participate in the general strike on December 14 called by the Central Trade Union in pursuance of 16 point demands.

According to a press release from TNMSRA, the central Government has been adopting various anti -people and anti -labour measures which include privatisation of public sector drug companies such as Hindustan Antibiotics Limited, investment of pension funds in speculative markets, lowering interest rates of provident fund, not increasing the ceiling on bonus, contractualisation of jobs and so on which has affected the interests of Sales Promotion Employees (SPE's).

Thousands of SPE's are expected to participate in the strike.
