The concept of Total Prenteral Nutrition (TPN) plays a vital role in the effective treatment of patients in the modern era, according to experts at a seminar on TPN here in Chennai.
Attending the Apollo Hospital’s all India workshop on total prenteral nutrition, Bhuvaneswari Shankar, Chief Dietician, Apollo Hospitals, noted that TPN helps in reducing the infection rate and reducing the length of hospital stay, which ultimately helps the patient to minimize the hospital expenses. Nutritional therapy has to be decided in accordance to the health of each patient, and the best nutritional strategy should be aimed to ensure maximum therapeutic efficiency and speedy recovery.
Dr.Preetha Reddy, Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals noted that nutrition forms an integral part of the treatment process as one’s recovery is always directly related to the medical treatment and nutritional status in the body.
