The National Chamber of Pharmaceutical Industry, Tunisia, has signed a MoU with the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) and The Basic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL) for mutual cooperation in the fields of pharmaceutical and biotechnology segments.
The MoU was the result of an interactive meeting organized by ASSOCHAM and CHEMEXCIL for a visiting delegation of Tunisian experts and the Indian pharmaceutical industry here on July 1, 2004.
The three organizations have agreed to assist their members in establishing and strengthening business contacts through events like conferences, seminars, study tours, exchange of trade groups and participation in trade fairs. The business proposals routed through these organizations would be given special consideration by both the countries, it is learnt.
According to Elyes Kasri, Ambassador of Tunisia, speedy visa clearances would be one of the possible advantages of routing the business proposals through these councils. The agreement says that the associations would soon workout concrete measures with an objective to utilize all opportunities within their competence to promote, strengthen and expand trade, economic, scientific, pharmaceuticals, chemical, biotechnology and other business relations between the concerned parties.
The interactive session had the presence of senior officials from the ministries of Commerce and Finance, industry delegates, office bearers of CHEMEXCIL, ASSOCHAM and a 12-member delegation from Tunisia.
