Unichem Laboratories, a Rs. 790 crore plus pharmaceutical major from Mumbai, has clocked better financial performance during the third quarter ended December 2012 on account of tax burden. Its net profit improved by 24 per cent to Rs. 30.35 crore from Rs. 24.47 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Its net sales increased marginally by 5.2 per cent to Rs. 231.16 crore from Rs. 219.78 crore. EBDITA moved up by 12.8 per cent to Rs. 44.96 crore from Rs. 39.87 crore. With improvement in profits, its EPS worked out to Rs. 3.36 as against Rs. 2.71 in the last period.
The company's sales in India improved to Rs. 156.96 crore during the quarter under review from Rs. 146.06 crore and that in international market declined slightly to Rs. 75.61 crore from Rs. 76.56 crore.
For the first nine months ended December 2012, Unichem's net sales increased by 25.2 per cent to Rs. 755.63 crore from Rs. 603.54 crore in the similar period of last year. Its net profit jumped by 66.4 per cent to Rs. 98.56 crore from Rs. 59.23 crore. Its domestic sales increased to Rs. 510.64 crore from Rs. 438.36 crore and its sales outside India moved up to Rs. 251.05 crore from Rs. 171.85 crore.
