Unichem Labs net profit jumps to Rs.20.54 cr in Q3

Unichem Laboratories, a Rs.1,100 crore plus Mumbai based pharma player, has posted strong growth in profits during the third quarter ended December 2015 and its standalone net profit went up to Rs.20.54 crore from Rs.2.06 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Its standalone net sales increased by 15.6 per cent to Rs.303.94 crore from Rs.262.89 crore. Its domestic sales from formulation and APIs increased by 18.1 per cent to Rs.192.94 crore from Rs.163.39 crore and international sales increased to Rs.111 crore from Rs.99.50 crore. EBDITA moved up by 304 per cent to Rs.34.10 crore from Rs.8.44 crore.

Its cumulative filings of ANDAs stood at 35 of which 20 ANDAs are approved and its cumulative filings of DMFs stands at 43. The market share of losar group improve by 1.2 per cent and that of ampoxin group improved by 3.2 per cent.

Unichem's net sales for the nine months ended December 2015 increased by 10.4 per cent to Rs.912.22 crore from Rs.826.35 crore in the similar period of last year. Its domestic sales of formulation and APIs improved by 12.7 per cent and international sales moved up by 6.4 per cent to Rs.322.67 crore from Rs.303.20 crore. Its net profit went up sharply by 32.7 per cent to Rs.72.42 crore from Rs.54.58 crore. EPS worked out to Rs.7.98 as against Rs.6.02 in the last period.

The company's US based subsidiary Unichem Pharmaceuticals (USA) Inc. registered net sales of US$ 24.1 million for nine months ended December 2015 as against $17.3 million, a growth of 39 per cent. Its net profit moved up to $ 1.47 million from $0.8 million.

Niche Generics Ltd, UK subsidiary achieved net sales of £ 5.87 million as compared to £7.2 million. However, it incurred a net loss of £0.9 million.

Its wholly owned Brazilian subsidiary, Unichem Farmaceutica Do Brasil Ltda, posted net sales of Brazilian Real 1.65 million for first nine months ended December 2015 as compared to Real 1.2 million. It incurred a net loss of Real 2.4 million. Its South African subsidiary Unichem SA (Pty) Ltd recorded net sales of African Rand 2.8 million and net loss of Rand 0.57 million for nine months ended December 2015.
