US based GeneExpression Systems Inc is planning to set up a $5 million biotechnology company in Hyderabad. In the first phase the company will set up a research and development lab with an investment of $5 million and in the second phase, it would look into diagnostics manufacturing.

The company is planning to start its R&D operations within a year, and would set up the manufacturing unit in the next three to four years. To meet its expansion plans, it is likely to go for an IPO.

GeneExpression is a private biotech company that specializes in differential gene profiling technology for down stream study of gene expression and regulation. It is a molecular biology contract research organization providing reagents and services to the researchers. It develops and commercializes proprietary gene expression kits, services and technologies to accelerate and enhance the discovery pipeline.
