AllAccem Inc, a medical company developing and manufacturing products for the veterinary markets worldwide, announced that the US Army Public Health Command, Veterinary Medical Standardisation Board (VMSB) Formulary Committee has approved SANOS gingival dental sealant for use in the Army Veterinary Treatment Facilities (VTFs).

The approval by the VMSB allows Army Veterinary Treatment Facilities (VTFs) to use SANOS gingival dental sealant to provide care for both Military Working Dogs (MWDs) and pets owned by Department of Defense (DoD) personnel. SANOS is expected to be available to the Army Veterinary Treatment Facilities worldwide in Q1 2015.

The VMSB determines standards of veterinary medicine practiced within US Army Public Health Command. The standards include equipment, formularies, wellness packages, clinical operations, and medical guidelines.

VTFs provide veterinary medical care to government-owned animals and to pets owned by personnel authorized DoD medical care, in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) regulations. The level of veterinary medical care available through each facility depends upon the level of professional and civilian staffing.

SANOS is a subgingival dental sealant for dogs and cats that seals the subgingival gumline (gingival sulcus) against the formation of plaque and tartar. It is professionally applied with no need for at-home re-application. SANOS lasts up to 6 months. SANOS was awarded the Seal of Acceptance by the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) "Helps Control Plaque and Helps Control Tartar". Blinded, randomised controlled trials on SANOS were published in the peer reviewed article “Evaluation of a Hydrophilic Gingival Dental Sealant in Beagle Dogs” Sitzman C.
