VWR to establish strong presence in Indian sub continent

The US based VWR International Inc, a global supplier of research specific equipment and products, has set up its Indian subsidiary at Bangalore and also commenced operations in Mumbai to cater to the rising needs of Indian pharma segment.

VWR offers more than 12 lakh products from more than 2,500 manufactures, to over 2.50 lakhs customer throughout North America and Europe. It has 6,500-products for Indian market and out of this 3000 products are related to the chemical industry and remaining products are in other categories. The Indian subsidiary, VWR Lab Product Pvt Ltd has established its headquarter at Bangalore with a branch office in Mumbai.

While speaking with Pharmabiz, MK Sathya, managing director of Indian operations, said, "Indian pharmaceutical biochemical market is growing very fast. We are expanding our business operations to tap future opportunities in India and Indian subcontinent. We are also recruiting more staff to handle more clients."

VWR's network consists of 15 strategically located distribution centres spread throughout North America and Europe. It is far the largest independent distributor of scientific suppliers in Europe and currently offers the only integrated pan-European distribution system.

"We are making strong presence in the emerging markets like India and China. Recently the company has established its subsidiary at Singapore and it has also made an acquisition", he added.

The company is going to display their products at two big events - Analytica-Anacon 2006 at Bangalore and Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) at Mumbai.
