Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc has launched Necon 7/7/7 (norethindrone and ethinyl estradiol tablets), a generic version of the oral contraceptive Ortho-Novum 7/7/7, marketed by Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical Inc. For 2002, Ortho-Novum 7/7/7 annual sales are estimated to be approximately $150 million. Necon 7/7/7 is indicated for the prevention of pregnancy.

Watson has launched Necon 7/7/7 as part of a supply arrangement with OMJ Pharmaceuticals, an affiliate of Ortho-McNeil.
