Wockhardt Foundation conferred with Asia Healthcare Excellence Award
Wockhardt Foundation, a not-for-profit organization engaged in social service and human welfare activities, has been awarded with Asia Healthcare Excellence Award organized by CMO Asia.
Wockhardt Foundation has been recognized for Mobile 1000 health van initiative towards contribution in society welfare and environment sustainability.
India faces daunting healthcare challenges. Bulk of population in the rural and remote areas does not have proper access to healthcare facilities despite of various government initiatives and developments. A step to overcome a part of the problem was taken through Mobile 1000 health van initiative by Wockhardt Foundation.
Launched in 2007, Wockhardt Foundation’s ISO 9001:2008 approved Mobile 1000 programme has been successfully administering high quality, free, primary healthcare services to growing number of rural areas across India. The programme currently runs 91 number of mobile health vans in the country administering free primary healthcare to 2.5 million Indians every year.

The Mobile 1000 health van equipped with a GPS tracking system and consists of one doctor, one pharmacist and one driver travels across villages conducting free OPD/health screening for rural people and providing free basic health services. They work towards creating awareness in rural areas on sanitation, hygiene, mother and child healthcare, safe drinking water, immunization, anemia, de-worming, vector-borne diseases, HIV, snake-bites, diabetes and tuberculosis. This is followed up with diagnosis and treatment. Specific cases requiring specialty care are referred to specialists.
Wockhardt Foundation, through its various programmes works towards improving rural healthcare, sanitation and education for children and youth. Till date the foundation has impacted over 53 million people.
