More than 11 million people are diagnosed with cancer every year. It is estimated that there will be 16 million new cases every year by 2020. Cancer causes 7 million deaths every year or 12.5 per cent deaths worldwide. In India, on an average about one in about 15 men and one in about 12 women in the urban centres could develop cancer in their lifetime. Some of the most frequent cancer types are curable by surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy. It is only the lack of such facilities nearby that makes people more vulnerable to cancer, said the Wockhardt sources.
