Wockhardt Hospitals has launched an Obesity centre at its existing set up of Wockhardt Hospitals at Mulund.
Wockhardt Obesity Centre offers obesity solutions like Gastric Bypass Surgery, Gastric Band Surgery and advance laparoscopic surgical techniques etc. The Centre also offers surgical procedures for morbid obesity and supports treatment with contributions of mental health, nutritional support & physical activity in the process of weight loss.
Dr. Ravindra Karanjekar, General Manager and Head Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai, inaugurated the centre. "Obesity is the one of the leading cause of death in this country as it leads to other diseases like diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and arthritis. Also being overweight becomes a national problem. In order to tackle this problem, Wockhardt Hospitals has taken the initiative to establish an obesity centre that offers reliable solution for obesity", said Dr Ravindra Karanjekar.
Wockhardt Obesity centre team, is headed by surgeons includes physicians, dieticians and Physiotherapists. The team of experienced consultants associated with this centre including Bariatric Surgeons Dr Ramen Goel, Dr Sanjay Borude and Dr Muffazal Lakadawala along with support services like Physiotherapy headed by Dr. Leena Phadnis and Dietician Services headed by Purva Duggal, during the launch programme. Dr Ramen Goel and Dr Sanjay Borude guided the delegates present through a show on "Recent Advances in the treatment of Obesity".
Suhas Aradhye, GM and Head Marketing Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai, stated that the "The vision of this centre is to address the epidemic of morbid obesity in our community by providing comprehensive, multi-disciplinary surgical and support services for weight loss, thus impacting the disease process and significantly improving quality of life of our patient".
More than 140 doctors from all over Mumbai were present for the launch function.
