A workshop on Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease began at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) here. Over 200 medical professionals from Ernakulam district and eminent cardiologists are attending the workshop, a release from the AIMS said.
The AIMS has been identified by the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) as one of the three national nodal centres for Jai Vigyan Mission Mode project on Rheumatic Fever (RV) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). The project will establish a registry on RV and RHD in selected areas in the district with a population of about 12 lakh.
