Wyeth's net surges by 36.4 % in FY07, dividend at 300%

Wyeth Ltd has reported satisfactory performance during the year ended March 2007 despite lower growth in top line. Its net profit increased by 36.4 per cent to Rs 92.36 crore from Rs 67.72 crore in the previous year. The company's net sales increased marginally by 0.3 per cent to Rs 288.13 crore from Rs 287.28 crore. The earning per share reached at Rs 40.65 as against Rs 29.8. The company stepped up its equity dividend to 300 per cent from 250 per cent in the last year.

The company's other income was also lower at Rs 17.34 crore as compared to Rs 20.30 crore. It managed to reduce its raw material cost to Rs 72.90 crore from Rs 81.38 crore. Further, the staff cost also declined to Rs 36.28 crore as against Rs 41.45 crore. Its other expenditure declined significantly to Rs 64.32 crore from Rs 84.44 crore. This reduction in major expenditures assisted the growth in profitability.

The Government has issued two notices under the Drugs Prices control Order (DPCO), 1979 and total amount involved is Rs 27.21 crore and Rs 3.78 crore. The company is contesting the demands and awaiting outcome.
