Secunderabad-based Yashoda Hospital has received accreditation from The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), a constituent board of Quality Council of India. Accreditation from NABH is a recognition for quality care and services rendered by any healthcare organisation. Hospitals accredited by NABH will have international recognition, which will provide a boost to medical tourism.

In an award ceremony organised by Yashoda Hospitals at the academic hall of the hospital, the chief guest Giridhar J Gyani, CEO, NABH and secretary general, Quality Council of India gave away the award to Dr G S Rao, managing director, Yashoda Hospitals.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr G S Rao said, "Yashoda Hospital obtained this coveted accreditation after five years of relentless quality service to its patients. The accreditation is good for the city and the hospital will continue to provide world-class care to all the citizens."

Elaborating on the stringent procedure the hospital had undergone to obtain the accreditation, he said, "Crossing all the 500 parameters of quality set by the NABH board can be an exacting process, but we accomplished this feat due to the dedication of the entire Yashoda team."

Explaining the need for accreditation, he further added, "Patients have to choose a hospital on the basis of availability and quality of services. Some healthcare organisations project an inaccurate picture of themselves. This can result in creating a wide gap between the actual state of affairs at the hospital and the expectations of patients."

The NABH standards provide a framework for quality assurance and quality enhancement, while focusing on patient safety and quality of care to award accreditation to any hospital. NABH is an institutional member of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQUA). ISQUA is an international body which grants approval to accreditation bodies in the area of healthcare as mark of equivalence of accreditation program of member countries.

Yashoda Hospitals is the largest corporate healthcare group in Andhra Pradesh operating three successful, fully independent, super-speciality hospitals and two cancer institutes. Situated in Hyderabad, the hospitals have a combined capacity of 1200 beds and treat more than three lakh people annually more than any other private healthcare organisation in the state.
