The Hyderabad-based Yashodha Hospitals has recently introduced a sophisticated radiation technique - Dynamic Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (Dynamic IMRT)- that can destroy cancerous tissues without damaging the normal tissues in the neighbourhood. The hospital has invested Rs 25 crore to acquire this new IMRT facility.
According to Dr M Babaiah, director of Yashodha Cancer Institute, Secunderabad, unlike the traditional radiation method, the technique would enable to destroy the tumour, without causing any damage to the normal tissues.
