YES Bank, India’s fourth largest private sector Bank with a pan India presence across all 29 states and 7 Union Territories, helped All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh, to achieve a milestone by becoming a 100% 'cashless-campus'. A digital-card based payments system developed by YES Bank will now replace cash based transactions within the AIIMS, Rishikesh campus.

AIIMS, Rishikesh, established in 2012 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, offers tertiary level healthcare as well as graduate and postgraduate medical education. Among the six AIIMS campuses across India, Rishikesh is one of the first such government medical campuses to be fully equipped with technology to go 100% cashless.

Commenting on the development, Ritesh Pai, chief digital officer at YES Bank, said, “YES Bank, since inception, has been a pioneer in innovating digital technologies to ease financial transactions. We are privileged to be associated with AIIMS, Rishikesh to help them in their journey of transforming the campus into a truly cashless ecosystem. This association will help revolutionize payments infrastructure across other medical institutions in India. We look forward to collaborating with other states and government institutions for many more similar path breaking digital initiatives”.

As a part of YES Bank’s cashless campus offering, over 1,000 patients who visit AIIMS, Rishikesh everyday can pay bills and avail medical services through a digital AIIMS, Rishikesh card in addition to having full access to payment usage history. Also, all other payments including that for college fees, hostel and cafeteria can be done with the payments card provided to residents, students, faculty, other employees and patients of the institute. Furthermore, point of sale terminals along with QR code based payment acceptance systems have been installed across the campus to ensure seamless and easy acceptance of payments. Payments for parking and other miscellaneous services carried out within the AIIMS, Rishikesh campus will also be fully digitized.

Speaking about the partnership, Prof. Ravi Kant, Director, AIIMS, Rishikesh, said, “We are happy to partner with YES Bank for creating a cashless campus with a view to digitize the payments process alongside building greater efficiency in managing patients on a day-to-day basis. This is the marquee step towards making Uttarakhand a leading state in implementation and acceptance of digital payments.”

The convenient plug-and-play solution implemented by YES Bank has eliminated bottlenecks associated with transaction processing significantly and has ensured that an otherwise cash heavy campus eliminates cash completely. The solution also introduces greater transparency in overall management since all transactions mapped to patient related activities can now be recorded on the system.
