Zandu Pharma net up by 21% in '07

The Mumbai based Rs 145 crore plus Zandu Pharmaceutical Ltd, has better performed during the period of 2006-07. Its net sales increased by 13.5 percent from the Rs 147.20 crore to Rs 129.66 in the last financial fiscal. The company's net profit increased sharply 21 per cent to Rs 14.69 crore from Rs 12.12 crore. The earning per share for Rs 100 face value per share improved significantly to Rs 182.23 from Rs 150.38 in the last period.

The Board of Directors has recommended equity dividend of 75 per cent for the year 2006-07. This will absorbed an amount of Rs 6.05 crore. The company issued bonus share in the ratio of 1:3 and its equity capital increased to Rs 8.06 crore from Rs 6.05 crore. Its reserves and surplus increased to Rs 61.92 crore from Rs 56.14 crore in the previous year.

Zandu Pharmaceutical has promoted the Zandu Chemicals Ltd (ZCL), a wholly owned subsidiary, with the total investment of Rs 14.50 lakh. The company has also given loans to the said company aggregating to Rs 3.57 crore, which are outstanding as the end of 2006-07. ZCL improved its performance during 2006-07 and BIFR has discharged from the purview of the 'Sick Industrial Companies Act, 1985'.

The consolidated net sales reached at Rs 163.62 crore and it earned a net profit of Rs 15.80 crore during 2006-07
