Zecotek Photonics Inc., a developer of leading-edge photonics technologies for medical, industrial and scientific markets, will be joining to their strategic partner, Hamamatsu Photonics to showcase patented imaging technologies including an assembled integrated detector module (IDM) composed of LFS arrays and corresponding solid-state MPPC photo detectors at the Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference (NSS/MIC) in Seoul Korea from October 27 to November 2, 2013.

“We are very pleased to be joining our strategic partner Hamamatsu Photonics at the prestigious Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference in Seoul, Korea,” said Dr A F Zerrouk, chairman, president, and CEO of Zecotek Photonics Inc. “This is the major conference of the year for medical imaging and attendees include vendors, customers, and scientific leaders, all in one single location. Hamamatsu will showcase an assembled IDM module and the underlying individual technologies: scintillation crystals, solid-state photo detectors and addressing electronics. Zecotek will also be presenting the novel Data Acquisition Board. We have scheduled meetings with positron emission tomography (PET) OEMs and will also meet with representatives from CERN.  We continue to make significant progress with the commercialization of our patented and patent pending technologies and expect further adoption by industry and scientific leaders alike.”

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers holds an annual conference which includes three areas of focus: medical imaging, nuclear science and room-temperature semiconductor detectors. The Medical Imaging Conference is the foremost international scientific meeting on the physics, engineering and mathematical aspects of nuclear medicine based imaging.  As technologies advance, multi-modality and new-generation approaches are becoming increasingly important. There is a growing emphasis on the methodologies of PET, x-ray, gamma, optical and MR imaging as they relate to nuclear imaging techniques.  Zecotek’s new IDM design is a patent pending layered structure made of three principle components: an array of LFS scintillation crystals, an array of solid-state photo detectors, and a readout system.  It is a cost effective and scalable design, ideal for new PET scanner configurations and various types of detection devices.

The Nuclear Science Symposium provides the opportunity for scientists and engineers, actively working in the fields of nuclear science, radiation instrumentation, software and other applications, to meet and discuss new developments from around the world. The program emphasizes the latest developments in technology and instrumentation and their implementation in experiments for space sciences, accelerators, homeland security, and other radiation environments.

The Workshop on Room-Temperature Semiconductor Detectors represents the largest forum of scientists and engineers developing new semiconductor radiation detectors and imaging arrays. Room-temperature solid-state radiation detectors for x-ray, gamma-ray, and neutron radiation are finding applications in fields such as medicine, homeland security, astrophysics and environmental remediation. The workshop provides a forum for discussion of the state-of-the-art of material development for semiconductor, scintillator, and organic materials for detection, materials characterization, device fabrication and technology, electronics and applications.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standard Associations (IEEE) is a large, global professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.

Zecotek Photonics Inc is a photonics technology company developing high-performance scintillation crystals, photo detectors, positron emission tomography scanning technologies, 3D auto-stereoscopic displays, and lasers for applications in medical, high-tech and industrial sectors.
