19 student groups win awards for Poster Presentations in APTICON 2010

Nineteen student groups have been selected winners for the Poster Presentations held along with the APTICON-2010 that held in Hyderabad last week. Student researchers from various pharmacy colleges in the country took part in the poster presentation programme by presenting different themes.

In the section of pharmaceutical biotechnology, first prize has gone to the team led by Kummarigunta Kavitha of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology, Sri Padmavathi   Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam, Tirupathi for their theme “Phenobarbital metabolism inhibition studies using microbes”. Second prize was shared by four students of University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kakatiya University, Warangal.

In pharmacology section, the team led by Anupama Koneru of Department of Pharmacology, Sultan-ul-uloom College of Pharmacy, Hyderabad has bagged the first prize. The title was “Acute Toxicity study and antidepressant activity of barleria cristata linn in rodents”  Second Prize has gone to Mangang Khomba and K Krishna of University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kakatiya University, Warangal.

In pharmaceutics, first prize was won by the group led by Kalpana Nagpal of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, G.J.University of Sci. & Tech., Hisar, Haryana for her theme “In vivo studies for brain targeting through formulated minocycline nanoparticles” and the second prize has gone to a team of seven students of Vaagadevi College of Pharmacy, Warangal for their title “Development of Ropinirole Transdermal Films:  In vitro and Ex vivo Characterization”.

In the section of pharmacognosy, team led by Alvala Ravi of G.Pulla Reddy College of Pharmacy, Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad has achieved the prize for their theme “Antiproliferative activity of Tecomella undulata bark extract on K562 cells”.

Second prize in the section was won by the group led by Prerana Shetty of  NGSM  Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Paneer, Deralakatte, for their title “Effect of alcoholic extract of saraca indica on esrogenic activity”. A third prize for this section was given for the theme “evaluation of the polyherbal extract for antioxidant, anticancer and antidiabetic activity” presented by P Divya and group from Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Gokaraju Rangaraju College of Pharmacy, Hyderabad.

In pharmaceutical analysis, K K Manjeera’s team from Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, The Erode College of Pharmacy & Research institute won the first prize for their title “A validated HPLC method for the determination of related impurities of tamsulosin hydrochloride by gradient elution in bulk”. The second prize has gone to N Jyothi and her team of Malla Reddy Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Secunderabad.

Third prize was won by G Tulja Rani of Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Sarojini Naidu Vanitha Pharmacy Maha. Vidyalaya, Hyderabad

In pharmaceutical education, the theme “Increasing use of softwares inpharmaceutical field” presented by A S Deshpande of NMIMS university, Shirpur has won the first prize. Second prize of this section was bagged by the team led by Lekshmi Shanthi of Sri Venkateshwara College of Pharmacy, Hi-Tech City Road, Madhapur, Hyderabad.

In pharmaceutical chemistry, the first prize was bagged for the title “Effect of Hesperdin isolated from orange peels on Cisplatin-induced Nephrotoxicity” presented by A.Sreedevi and her team from Division of pharmaceutical chemistry, Institute Of Pharmaceutical Technology, SPMVV, Tirupathy. Second prize for this section has gone to S Renuka of Dept of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Gokaraju Rangaraju College of Pharmacy, Hyderabad.

In pharmacy practice, a team led by Ramesh Adepu of Department of Pharmacy Practice , JSS college of Pharmacy, Ootty has won the first prize for their theme “Design, Validation and Implementation of Continuous Professional Development Programmes for Community Pharmacists – A Study”.  Second and third prizes have gone to the teams led by HN Vishwas and R Savitha of the same college.
