5th edition of Bangalore Nano to be held on Dec 6 to7, 2012

Karnataka’s department of IT, BT and S&T, along with the Vision Group on Nanotechnology is organising the fifth edition of Bangalore Nano event. The event is scheduled on December 6 and 7, 2012 at Hotel The Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru.

The annual event will feature an exhibition and conference sessions addressed by internationally acclaimed speakers and experts discussing a range of issues pertaining to research, technology development, skills requirement, risks issues, regulatory and governance structure, investment and collaborations between academia, R&D and industry. There is also a pre-conference tutorials which is scheduled for December 5, 2012 for the delegates which will offer a quick preview on the fundamentals to nanofabrication, a major growth area for India, followed by parallel tracks focusing on medicines; biotech and material synthesis and materials to devices, said Prof. CNR Rao, FRS, national research professor; Linus Pauling, research professor; president, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR).

International representation from over 10 countries like Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, UK, Ukraine and USA' States like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New York, Philadelphia and Texas' and 35 Indian and international exhibitors will be participating in the Tradeshow.

Bangalore Nano National Award will be presented to Prof. GU Kulkarni, Chemistry & Physics of Materials Unit and DST Unit on Nanoscience, JNCASR.

Malhotra Weikfield Foundation will present six awards to young researchers in the field of Nanotechnology selected by Prof. CNR Rao and a committee of experts.

Over 450 students are expected to attend ‘Nano for the Young’ from various engineering, medical and biotech colleges across the state.

There is a poster session and a research industry collaboration hub to showcase innovations in nanotechnology.
