AP govt to add 1203 more diseases under ambit of Arogyasri health insurance scheme
Government of Andhra Pradesh is soon looking forward to include 1203 more disease under the ambit of Arogyasri health insurance scheme in the state. To this effect the state government is deliberating to issue an order and very soon all the private and government hospitals in the state will be intimated.
At present already there are 927 diseases covered under Arogyasri health scheme and with the proposal to include 1203 more diseases to the existing list, overall 2000 diseases will be treated under the health scheme.
Sources revealed that the government’s decision to widen the list of diseases to be treated under Arogyasri came in the wake of recent agitation by the Andhra Pradesh Nursing homes Association and the association members of the super speciality hospitals.
As the private hospital association members were asking to hike the treatment and maintenance charges under Arogyasri scheme to 30 per cent, state government seems to symbolically accepted their demands but at the same time the government is also planning to include more diseases to the list so as to appease the doctors of private hospitals who may have a better earning opportunities.
Though a formal government order is yet to be released in this regard, the government had already informed the doctors in principle during a meeting earlier this week.
While informing about the additional list, Dr Krishna Prasad of APNHA said, “We have got the details and need to thoroughly study them. At present we are analysing the whole issue and very soon we will inform about our decision.”
The state government is looking in to all their demands and every aspect is being considered seriously. After keenly studying their demands very soon the government will come up with a road map and appropriate action will be taken accordingly, opined chief executive officer N Srikanth.
