APTI honours several pharmacy teachers for their outstanding contribution

Five pharmacy teachers have been felicitated with APTI-2010 Awards for their contributions in pharmacy education and research. The awards carry cash prizes and citation. The Minister for Technical Education, Andhra Pradesh, M Venkata Ramana has given away the awards in the APTICON-2010 held last week in Hyderabad.

Shri Bhojraj Panjamool Lifetime Achievement Award-2010 was given to Prof Shrinivas K Kulkarni in recognition of his contribution and accomplishments in the field of pharmacy education & research in general and pharmacology in particular.

Before joining Panjab University in 1979 as Associate Professor, he was the research fellow in University of Paris and research associate in University of Oklahoma. He had also served as visiting professor at University of Texas. Currently Prof Kulkarni is serving as the director of Bombay College of Pharmacy, Mumbai.

Dr (Mrs.) Manjushree Pal Memorial Award-2010 for the best pharmaceutical scientist has gone to Prof Raghuram Rao Akkinepally for his illustrious career spanning over three decades in the field of pharmaceutical education and research. He has worked in many universities in India and outside and presently serving as professor, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

IPER’s Principal of the Year Award-2010 has been given to prof (Dr) Badri Prakash Ramratan Nagori, the Director of Pharmacy Division, Lachoo Memorial College of Science & Technology, Jodhpur. Dr Nagori has helped in shaping the pharmacy education in the state of Rajasthan by his teaching, research and administration, the award committee felt.

Dr Mange Ram Yadav, professor of Pharmacy, MS University, Baroda has been honoured with the prestigious ‘Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Award-2010’ for his outstanding scholarship and contribution as a teacher and researcher.

Prof (Dr) Dilip Kumar Pal is the winner of this year’s ‘Young Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Award-2010’. Currently he is working as professor at College of Pharmacy, Institute of Foreign Trade and Management, Moradabad, UP.

In addition to this, the association has honoured 32 teachers with various awards for their research and in-depth study in pharmacy related subjects.
