Ayush ministry sets up 26 Ayush Information Cells in 24 countries to promote Ayush medicine
To promote and propagate the Ayush systems of medicine in the world, the Union Ministry of Ayush has so far established 26 Ayush Information Cells in 24 countries. These Cells have been set up in foreign countries under the aegis of Indian Embassies/ Missions and Cultural Centers set up by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) or at a venue suggested by the Indian Missions for dissemination of authentic information and to take up awareness building about Ayush systems of medicine abroad.
Ayush Information Cells will help in global promotion and propagation of Ayush systems of medicine which would lead to signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with foreign governments, universities and institutes, for country to country cooperation in the field of traditional systems of medicine, setting up of Ayush Academic Chairs and undertaking collaborative research.
The countries where the Ayush Information Cells have so been set up included Malaysia, Trinidad & Tobago, Mexico, Cuba, Hungary, Russia (2 Cells), Indonesia (2 Cells), Mauritius, Slovenia, Sweden, China, Dubai, Croatia, Kyrgyzstan, Finland, Argentina, Serbia, Israel, Tajikistan, Peru, Tanzania, Switzerland, Venezuela and London.
Besides establishing these cells, the Ayush Ministry has taken various steps for promotion and propagation of Ayush systems of medicine. These include signing of MoUs for country to country cooperation in the field of traditional medicine, setting up of Ayush Academic Chairs in foreign universities and institutes, and undertaking collaborative research to enhance the acceptability of Ayush systems at international level.
Besides, the Ayush Ministry has organised 19 workshops in 12 countries over the last three years to promote Ayush system of medicine. These workshops witnessed tremendous response and created lot of awareness amongst the participants comprising of policy makers, educationists, traditional medicine experts, researchers, etc about the Ayush systems of medicine as is evident from the response received from some of the countries for signing of MoUs/Agreements for cooperation in the field of traditional medicine.
