Bangalore India Bio 2015 to focus on start-ups, clinical trials & rare diseases
The 15th edition of India’s biggest biotech event 'Bangalore India Bio 2015' will be held at The Lalit Ashok, Bangalore from February 9 to 11, 2015.
Jointly organised by the Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Vision Group on Biotechnology and MM Activ Sci-Tech Communications, the focal theme for this year’s summit is "Crystallising India’s Biotech Future".
The event has evolved over the last 14 successful editions to offer excellent opportunities for securing productive global partnerships and accelerate the growth of biotech industry, according to the Karnataka government.
With Bangalore India Bio, government of Karnataka aims at taking a closer look at the changing future of biotech and its impact on India. The 15th edition of the event has over 22 conference sessions, 110 impact speakers, 3000+ business visitors, 15+international delegations from UK, Scotland, USA, France, Germany, Holland, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Australia to name a few.
Some of the key topics that will be covered include agri-biotech, clinical trials in India and rare diseases and orphan drug development. Another major topic that will be discussed is the US-India vaccine research & collaboration. A special pavilion dedicated for start-ups has also been created where any start-up catering to life science industry can be a part of the session themed, “Going beyond the start-up with effective scaling strategies”.
According to Srivatsa Krishna, secretary, Department of IT, BT and S&T and DPAR (e-Governance) Government of Karnataka, the state over the last decade has identified a tremendous potential in the biotechnology sector while enjoying a steady growth. Out of the about 450 registered biotech companies, almost two-third are located in Bengaluru.
