Baxter opts for Karnataka for its shared Global IT Services Center catering to multiple in-house needs
US-based Baxter International Inc. has opted for Karnataka’s information technology (IT) capital Bengaluru to set up its Integrated Delivery Centre (IDC). The global IT shared services centre will deliver Baxter’s global enterprise IT needs.
The IDC facility is located at Prestige Shantiniketan in Whitefield Bangalore spans over an area of 2,500 square feet facility and currently houses 150 staff who will develop and deploy enterprise wide IT solutions that support critical operations from HR to Manufacturing, Finance, Quality Compliance, Legal and other functions within the organization.
The key objective for the company to decide on Bengaluru was to improve operational efficiencies, implement cost saving processes and provide real time information to support business decision and compliance. The center’s proximity to major IT solutions providers, IDC will be able to leverage synergies with Baxter’s existing vendors.
Baxter operates in a complex and highly regulated healthcare environment and as the business grows, the demand for mission-critical enterprise IT solutions increases.

IDC will enable us to ramp up quickly to deliver world class IT services to our internal customers to minimise risks and optimise cost.” said Paul Martin, corporate vice president and chief information officer, Baxter International.
The company had been mostly employing outsourced IT professionals and contractors in India in recent years and will be consolidating and expanding its in-house IT workforce with this new centre. This will result in the creation of 200 positions over the next 6 months. Baxter has been operating in India for over 17 years and its nation-wide footprint includes commercial facilities and five manufacturing facilities. In February, Baxter announced a collaboration with Syngene establishing the Baxter Global Research Center at Syngene, in Bengaluru.
